Ahh, oops! Usually anytime I order a part for a Kawasaki, nothing comes in pairs. Guess I might be getting 2 of a set.

I ordered the parts I needed. Next will be the fork oil from the Kawi shop. I was going to order the OEM fork guards till I realized that I missed the sliders too, and then the price went up too much. So I went with the UFO guards. Should be getting the parts in sometime this week, just in time for the weekend.

I don't get my KYB seals from Kaw. I get my shop to order them from Tucker/Rocky or Parts Unlimited. Not sure what they cost from Kaw, buy you're right...they don't come in pairs from Kaw.

You're probably snagging parts close to the cost value. I know any dealership will pretty much slap a 2x price tag on any part. Same deal with plastics on our bikes, don't break them, they cost too much to replace.

Going to have to give the KLX a good once over. Its been out of action for too long. At least the tires aren't flat and the engine still starts with a cloud of smoke coming from the pipe (bad valve seal leaking oil).

I used to blow seals on my KTMs twice a year until I started realigning the forks after every couple rides. I found a tip on brucessuspension.com that really helped with the alignment.

Put the left fork in the triples at the height you want it. Then leave the second fork loose in the clamps and move it up/down slightly to find the height at which you feel the least resistance while rotating the front axle. That's the true alignement point. Unfortunately no 2 forks are exactly the same length due to spring differences, etc. The binding causes quick wear of bushings, seals and steals some plush from your ride.

Between that and hosing off the lower forks with water every now and again my seals last a lot longer. I'm replacing mine this weekend but only because I'm gonna be in the forks anyway and they need new oil. They're not leaking at all.

Front fork alignment. I just made markings of all the points before I remove anything. This way I can slide the forks back in to their last height. Those markings are still there a year or two later. Guess permament marker ink does stay around.

Hahahahaha!!!!!!! What was that from? Good stuff right there.

I had a seal leak just a little when I first got the bike. A friend of mine slid up a business card and out came a tiny grain of sand or dirt. Never leaked again after that.

dan if you weren't weren't watching monkey comedy skits on CC, you'd could have made a mountain of money knocking out case guards for KLX owners.
