Fork guard replacements.

Fork guard replacements.
Last summer I noticed one of my fork guards was cracked. When I put some pressure on it, it cracked in another place. The plastic had become very brittle. Later in the year ,while riding the Leaf river dual sport ride I shattered the right side guard. OEM parts were almost $40 for each side if I remember correctly? There are a couple threads on here that discuss which aftermarket guards will fit. From what I gathered on here the UFO guards for a "94-95" KX125/250 are your best bet. These guards come with the "sliders" that support the tops of the guards. They aren't an exact fit, but only require drilling one extra hole on each guard, and (if you want) trimming an unused mounting tab. I decided to take a few pics while I did it to help out anybody else looking for cheaper replacements. These were $29/pair from Parts Unlimited. Most motorcycle shops are Parts Unlimited dealers. I looked up the Pats Unlimited part number in the online catalog and went to my local Mcy shop and had them order for me.

extra hole and tab removed.
Maybe that will help somebody out down the road.
The guards feel like they will hold up. Pretty flexible, made from polypropylene.
I will try to update this thread once I put some damage on em.

Hey...excellent find. I've noticed a lot more items that cross over from KX's, KLX's, and KDX's than I would have thought. All my fork and shock internals for my '06 KLX250 were cross over's from several of those other models. I know what you mean about the big online catalogs. I spent a lot of time between the PU and Tucker/Rocky catalogs trying to figure out suspension parts might cross over.

No kidding. That two-piece armor set has a nifty little "K" cut into it that looks very factory. If you cut that in there, Dan, then you should go into dentistry.

LOL Dentistry?? Only if you have a high threshold for pain
Thanks for the complimets on the brake line protection. I fabbed it up myself quite a while back. I posted pics back when I did it. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=21071
I actually thought I put up more pictures back in that old post.
I just cut bent and filed some scrap angle aluminum I had. I used existing bolt locations, and had to use a longer bolt and a spacer for the front caliper carrier. The Kawi "K" turned out pretty well, but sometimes I think it looks a little cheezy. I drew it on the metal and then drilled, cut, and filed it out.
There are a few dings in those two pieces so I think they are doing their job. I have no idea why Kawi routed that line like they did.

Curse you, dan! I'm working on my forks this weekend to install that Gold Valve kit, and when I go to unhook the brake hose from the fork guard...SNAP! I guess it didn't like the cold weather...and it's the original part...so now I'll be ordering the UFO kit. But I bet it really broke because you brought this thread up.
Hey, what's your take on the Seal Savers that I see you have installed there? Are they worth it?...do they really work? I've had lots of dirt motors over the years, but this is the first upside-down fork.
