I always thought the right peg was a little "off" so that the imaginary (optional) kick starter would not hit it.

& in general...
Your supposed to be gripping the thing with your legs & knees anyway. To me the right peg is too far out (which is has to be if it had a kick starter).

Mooredan, I actually justinstalled the same pegs last week. I had to file the inside of the peg to get the set bolt to go through. I also notice the pegs angle up a bit.
Did you have either one of these problems?

I didn't have to ream out the hole, but I did grind down one side of the cotter pin (used a new one) to get it to fit.
I think that the angling up is a bit by design to help keep your boots from slipping off. However, after looking at it a bit closer, it does seem that at least the left side is angled up more than it should be (note that the bike does notsit quite square on my stand):
