+1 on the Q4. Good compromise between power and sound. It's quiet if you want it to be but if you open up the throttle it has a nice bark.

Doc, I bought my Q4 from the dealer I bought my bike from. $269.00 plus tax. You might want to check with yours. It may be worth your while and earn you some points with the dealer if you need them down the road. I really like the Q4. The power bomb is louder from what I've read. The muzzy is louder too. I just wish someone would make one as quiet as the stock one with the improved flow that you need when you rejet. Dont forget to get the Kouba screw when you do the rejet.

First - thanks fo all the help.

Here in the PRK (Peoples Republic of Kalifornia) noise is a big issue. So quiet is required. (Got ticketed in the middle of the Mojave desert on my old IT250) The Q4 is listed at 96dB which is the max allowed. I think anything will flow bettter then the catalitic converter.

Speaking about flow. I notice lots of you have installed the KDX 200 snorkel. How much extra noise does this create? I took the lid off and the sound drove me crazy.

Default KLX exhaust

Get the Q4 with the powerbomb header. Yes a little more money now but you will be much happier in the long run. The Q4 sounds great.

The KDX200 snorkel does not seem to increase noise IMO

+1 on that!! I didn't like the type, or level of sound with out the lid. Big muffled MMMMWhhhaaaaaaa. I ended up running with the snorkel pulled out, and the lid on. It doesn't sound bad at all.

Great - thanks everyone for the input.

I'm running over to JC motorsports after work to pick up the pipe, jet kit and KDX snorkel. Looks like it's time to cash in another savings bond - Before Ye'ol govt goes belly up.

Next i'll be pestering everyone for help with the jetting stuff...

if you were looking at the powercore 4 i have it on my klx250sf! i just got it about 2 weeks ago, i mostly got it cuz of the cash issue also. i love it, wish it was a little quiter but i know you can buy the inserts for super cheap. i called the dealer and asked him if the q4 and the powercore was the same besides with a quiet insert and he said no, the q4 will give you extra performace but not much. i found my powercore 4 tho for 206 shipped! so i figured it was a good enough deal not to pass up

I have the HMF can and it tends to be a bit loud, loud enough that at an off road park (cliffs insane terrain) they sound checked me. No idea why I was the lucky one, the group i was with consisted of a 125 with a full procircuit exhaust with the packing blown outta the silencer and a piped banshee. I want to order the quiet tip for it.
