I know the FMF instructions say use sealant but..
You should never have to.. I had to fiddle around when I put mine on..
Took about 5 times till I got it on its own.. No sealant .. So messy

And you are sure the exhaust isnt leaky without the sealant? Did you try to pour on soapy water and check for bubbles?

It says use sealant because it is necessary. You'll never get an air tight seal without it. Again, the most important thing is to allow 24-hours for it to dry before firing the bike up. Before firing it up for the first time, snug it up a bit to tighten the seal.

I've had my pc4 on for months now and I have never repacked it.
I have read this is suppose to be done approx every 50h of riding.

What is the need for this, is it just to keep the loudness down?
Any concerns with riding without it being repacked?

Brieninsac...
What your sayin may be true. But I try not to use sealant to stop leaks
It's like putting silicone or something around a P- trap to stop your sink from leaking.
Like I said I just moved my clamp around till I got a tight seal
The header n slip on fits tight, and with that big clamp there is no way it won't seal..when a pipe is cold and you clamp down tight. When it gets Hot the metal will expand.. No leaks
Just sayin..but everyone is different..

Looking for soap bubbles? Seriously? Who cares if it leaks a little? I used no sealant and I hear no noise from the joint but see a slight carbon track at one spot.

You do realize the another couple of feet away the exhaust tip just blubbers out exhaust all the time anyway.

I have a DG mounted onto the stock header. I'm in Australia and the DG conecting pipe was smaller than my stock header so I welded a larger diameter stainless pipe onto the header end of the DG to make a good seal with the stock header, gasket and clamp. No leaks and no problems in over 1000kms other than the family complains its to loud!!
