FMF Q4 - melts turn signals?
I'm all set to buy a new exhaust system for my wife's 2009 KLX250S. It's come down to the full Muzzy system or the FMF Q4 with a powerbomb header. I'm kind of leaning towards the Q4 because most posts on here say it is quieter, but there are also posts that say it melts the right rear turn signal. Can anyone who has/had a FMF Q4 tell me what their experience has been with this exhaust? Did you have to worry about this?

I'm not sure about the turn signal (I'd like to get a Q4 too), but check this out: FMF Q4 on eBay for $250. Sounds like a good deal. Maybe I'll get enough in my tax refund to grab one of these.

I'm not sure if anybody that responded here has a 2009 with the Q4. I remember a thread on here about the 2009 signal getting melted by an exhaust, but I can't remember what exhaust. I have the Q4 on my 2007 KLX and have had no problems with it melting the stock signals. If nobody with an "09" and a Q4 replies here you might have to search around on the forums past posts.

I have the FMF Q4, the only thing I noticed was that when I had it jetted rich it would turn the signal lens black. But since then I have replaced the signals with some on a much shorter stock so that they are not likely to get hit. Also put a couple washers behind the front mounting tab to keep the pipe away from the air box.

I put on a Q4 on my 09 and got out for a ride a week ago, but it was below the freezing point so there was no melting. Since then winter has come back so will have to wait till spring for the real test. If it melts I'll get short stock LED lights.

I own an 09' w/ a Q4 and it DID melt some of the blinker. Heres what i did, I bought an aftermarket( Edge tail light assy). and reused my stock blinkers. The new tailight assy lifted the blinkers a little and no more problems. I did buy small blinkers to put on but i really don't like cutting wires on a brand new bike and i would have to do it to the front to keep it symetrical. The local motorcycle shop sells CHEAP tiny blinkers, but its all on what you like.
