First time on singletrack, big group ride: Photos/Report
Well, not much to say, except WOW. What a blast. Singletrack is awesome.
The club we belong to (Breezy Hill Dirt Riders) had a big ride this Saturday up on the trails we all have been working on for the last few years. Well I've worked once, my dad a few times. There was a great turnout, probably 30 riders, easy. Mostly KTMs, 2 KLX250s (mine and an 06/07), a KLR650, GasGas 250, some Hondas, various Yamahas (WR450F, TTR, etc). Great food (delicious Gumbo, lots of deserts). Most people camped out Friday night and stayed the weekend.
The Forest Service recognizes the trails and there's a grant in progress, etc, but the paybooth and official designation should be taking place the end of the summer. The only work left to do is install a few LWCs and halfmoon and box culvert bridges. The trails are a bit further than the ones we have been riding; the campground / trailhead is 22 miles from our house, with about 2/3rds being 4-lane divided highway. The rest is twisty asphault logging roads.
Anyways, the trails are sweet. Very grippy, routed in a very fun way. We rode the easier loop, the white diamond loop, one and a half times. The blue diamond loop is a bit more technical, dad has done it on the DRZ before, but we decided not to tempt our luck with plenty of witnesses if we fail
We're gonna give it a try next time we head up. We really wanna go ride up there alot more and get to know the area better. The singletrack is just so much more enjoyable than the 4-wheeler trails closer to the house.
It was my first time on singletrack, so it took a bit of getting used to having to stay in one rut/line instead of a huge 4-wheeler path. But the trails were good, they're very fresh and not rutted up or muddy and torn up. By the end of the day I was shredding (for a noobtard). Up in the power in second and gassing it in third. Felt like one of them racer boys HAHA

The campfire was the happenin' spot, it was a wee bit chilly.
As I mentioned, KTM is the bike of choice. Out of 35 or so riders, I'd guess that 20+ of the bikes were orange. There was a Huseberg there, though. Some Hondas, a GasGas, bunch of Yamahas, and a few of us Green bikes.
The salesman that sold me my bike was there. He no longer works for the dealer, though. He has a YZ 250.
I think this is a KDX maybe?
This area was actually a bombing range during the War. There are two main bunkers and several one-man hideaways along the target trench. They ran trucks/cars on a traintrack with targets, and soldiers shot at the targets.
While taking a break, the KTM brigade came along. I couldn't fit them all in the cameraframe. At least 10 with one Honda. They made him ride in the back LOL

Most of the trail is tight, there are some open sections. I snapped this shot on the hillside because you could see all the white diamonds along the trail. You probably noticed we're riding with just one mirror.
Today we just rode the trails here closer to the house. It was fun b/c after riding that tight stuff, the wide-open 4-wheeler stuff was a breeze, we hauled tail all day. But it just wasn't as fun as that singletrack. I'm hooked.
