first real sprin ride and w/ new tires
Well I went a relativaly painful ride last thursday the weather was a beaut and my bike was running great. I just fitted new Kenda Trackmasters on front and back. I love the back tire but not so much the front. The front is thinner than the stock tire which i found to be a little unforgiving in sandy areas. oh about 5 minutes into the ride i was tearing *** around a banked turn to the right and then was supposed to go around another banked turn to left when i got a little far to the right in some sand and went straight for a tree I saw her coming but my front tire just sank in and went straight for it. Well i nailed the tree pretty good and snapped a retainer that the spoke scews into on the rim. Only one though but i think my rim is a bit untrue now, actually i'm sure it is. I said screw it I drove a hour up here and I'm not going to ride only for 5 minutes so i kept on riding. No real problems other than that, I had a blast but was just a little pissed of. I think i might go back and cut that tree down Here are some pics by the way....DEEJ
no pics of the damn tree though

Wow,
The scenery is fantastic. Two comments. First, the photo of the sandy switchback could be of any one of a hundred places within a few miles of me - except for the foliage. Almost made my forearms and shoulders hurt to look at it, sugar sand takes a bunch of steering effort (as you discovered). That skinny front tire is not the best rudder in the world...
Second thing, couldn't help but notice those (twin) big fat headers and itty bitty cans on the quad. Would love for someone to explain the engineering theory on that setup. Looks like you guys had a great time.......

Great pics. When were they taken shoot yesterday it was 25 degrees celcius and this morning I woke up to -2 celcius and snow. Wouldn't be to quick to blame the tire although not the best TK2's are not bad for a DOT dirt tire. A good sand tire is hard to find and very specialised and not very good at anything but sand. Hope your rims ok and keep up those great pics.

Wow, awesome pics! Glad to hear the front rim held up for you.
The big fat headers are actually expansion chambers (like on most 2 stroke exhaust systems) and the small cans help to keep the back pressure up.
