My first mistake on my KLX is INTENSELY embarrassing.

I figured that since I was lazy, i'd be cool and ride up to this trashcan infront of this store, to throw away some packaging. So, I ride up, front wheel goes over the curb, uh oh, going too slow, back wheel doesn't make it.

So I kick my left foot out to catch myself and WTF, WHERE'S THE ****ING GROUND?

And so I went down, and 5 people ran over because they thought I seriously needed help, when I just kept going "no no no i'm fine i'm fine i'm fine" with the most intense blush on my face ever.

Yesterday I had the bike on the stand, and was under the forks adjusting the clickers. The fork I needed to get at was too close to the ground to fit the screwdriver under, so I reached up and pushed the bars away from me, when...

The bike falls off of the stand and lands right on me. Good thing a friend was with me, otherwise I would have been stuck there all night.

I thought this was about street mishaps.

I've lost count of how many times i've dropped my bike in the trails.

Looks like that chain needs some oil, too.
No from the looks of things that oil needs some chain....I havent dumped mine on the blacktop (unless we're talking about the first time i sat on a bike which was my bro's and i dumped the clutch right into the back of my truck)......but I did wipe out recently and have my leg pinned under the KLX. When my bro asked "do you want me to take a quick picture?" I screamed "It's burning through my F*&%!NG BOOT". Enough said, no pic was taken.

Holy ****ing christ, i've had that happen to me while I was working on my bike (not the KLX), and just wearing shorts and slippers.

I had just oiled the filter, and the bike had a nasty *** flatspot, so I took it off the stand and road it around the block to feel the condition for myself, No luck. Stopped the bike in my culdesack, and a friend ran over and handed me my tools and a rag to sop up the oil I assumedly used too much of on my filter.

Nup, no better. I took the filter out and revved the bike open carb to see if it changed the condition at all. Nope, just the same. So, I let the clutch out and was walking the bike back to my house with the engine still going, and the bike still in gear, figuring that my garage was maybe 50 feet away, and that nothing could really go wrong. I'm sure you can see the situation setting up now.

So I get tired of pushing the bike and slip the clutch just a tad, not even half way out, so that the bike sorta walked with me. Worked well, untill the bike leaned just a SLIGHT bit AWAY from me, and pulled me ontop of it. Rear tire landed right on my right foot, and wedged itself in the groove where my foot and shin met. Uh oh.

My kill switch didn't actually exist. I had lost it a long while back when I tried to drop my rear tire into a rut and snap the clutch to take a hairpin switchback. I missed the rut and the bike shot out from under me, and a tree brance came and tore my bar pad in half, and pulled the button on my kill switch clean out of its socket.

I usually just turned the key to the off position to stop the bike, or if it was an emergency, let the revs out and snapped the clutch to stall the bike.

So, I snapped the clutch and PRAYED to dear god that the bike would stall. Nope, the tire just span up with violent force and destroyed my leg a bit more.

So I stood there for a few seconds yelling my head off as the rear tire sat neatly on my foot, and just continued to spin and spin and spin and spin and spin and spin and spin and spin (I had a deadly case of pinned throttle). I eventually gathered my wits and turned the key, but a good half of my foot was just a giant patch of white flesh and skin.

The scar is fooking GIGANTIC!

Those knobbies are really good at eating through flesh.

First time I dropped my KLX it broke off the left hand guard. I was crushed!
Ha, exactly same thing I did... I was like, cheap *** handguards, they work well!!
The second time the bike went down, I let a friend try it and he wasn't usedto the clutch, and fell down ontop of a short cement wall.... I was like, pfft, that stuff's gunna happen.
And now I don't know how many times I have dropped it... Bent the handlebars once, bent my right footpegmount once, scratched some plastics...

If it's not falling, you're not learning

Mine has no front brake lever and no right mirror. and I broke the handlebars but I welded those.
[:-]Not a good idea[&:], for like $50 bucks you should be able to buy handlebars that would be far better than welding broken ones.

+1 for the welded handle bars.

And as for the chain that needs oil. Forget the oil, just replace the chain and keep it lubed. At least its not like mine, which is covered in red clay dust. I'm planning to power wash the bike today after work anyways.

LOL, My wife probably said that the first few times she stopped and crashed and burned (before I lowered her bike).
