On the break in....man some people really put too much thaught into stupid things.... My dad used to drag race and has been a mechanic his whole life, and i asked hime how he broke in a new motor.... He said when he built the 350, many times, in his Nova drag race car, he would just drive it down the track like it was an old motor and that was it, didnt do anything special.... man, just ride guys.... no offense to you.
I think the mototuneusabreak-in method made me work the engine more agressively than I would have pushed even "an old motor", so perhaps your dad was ahead of the curve on this one.

Yeahbut I'll still own up to mid-life crisis factors at work with the purchase of the KLX 250 (I've been shrouding it by getting my son the Honda XR80... a father and son thing ya know).

poodlenuts, thanks for the congrats & welcome!
Yup, that is the break-in article. It makes a pretty compelling case for their break-in procedures.

Well I really liked the read on the Mototune site and it is exactly the way me and my step dad rebuilt motors in the late 70's and early 80's. Oh and don't show my wife that Honda Pilot, I just re-convinced her that our 2002 Camry is the last car we are buying for years to come. Same thing on my Dodge Ram truck, its the last truck I will own. Good by payments, hello $800.00 a month extra.[8D] Oh and on the oil filter cap, I thought it couldn't go on upside down. But then again I always look at the oil ports to make sure they are lined up. Perhaps we could all put a smiley face sticker or a K on it so we would always know. Just a thought.

Nothing wrong with a paid off vehicle. The 2002 Camry is one of the best values out there from what I hear. Kind of wishing I had my old Toyota truck now for toting the bike. Putting it in the "fanny pack" on my Honda Pilot will have to do for now.

On the oil filter cover, I did not test a complete installation of it upside down, but I did turn it 180° and everything seemed to line up as I recall. I like the smiley face or K idea! It not only tells you the cover is right side up, it gives a subliminal message to onlookers where you buy your filters. Classy.

Sounds like a PWI name in the making. Oh on the sticker idea, perhaps a K&N sticker, now that would be cool.
