If you're going the hard break in, now's probably a good time to change it. Somebody that has done the hard break in would be able to tell you better than me. I did not change the gasket on the oil drain plug. I don't think it's really nessary unless it developes a leak or something. If you don't have a torque wrench just snug it up good with a small wrench or a 1/4 inch drive ratchet so you don't get too much torque on it. I had a torque wrench so I went by the torque value in the book. A torque wrench would probably be a wise investment for this bike. Just for piece of mind if nothing else.

+1

It's just way too easy to overtighten bolts without one.

Do you guys always use the torque wrench or just tighten it to feel?
Yes absolutely, anything that threads into aluminium gets a torque wrench. Book says 11 ft-lbs for the drain, thats nothing, it would be real easy to overtighten it. I've learned this from working on outboards, its not a good thing to be real handy with your tap and die set. You can get one from Harbor Freight for ~$20 in Lake Worth.

BTW I got a great sand pit to ride in by my warehouse in Lake Park.....come up sometime and we'll throw some rooster tails....its a great workout.

That place looks cool and I would like to ride up there when I get some time. I don't think my klx will be throwing up and roosts until I get the mods installed.

Don't worry the stock bike will kick pleanty of rooster in sugar sand when punched...besides its like a pillow when you wipe out.

Edit: BTW I'm no mx'er by any stretch, I wipe out in the sand all the time ....... but I've been getting better, no attitudes, come up and have some fun..... I know a few easier spots to ride and I got a quad if ya really wipe out and we have to drag it back...... I've had to do it with my bike.
