I think oil change intervals are overrated. Aside from the break in period, I usually wait at least a few thousand km. My 83 Honda XL 100 had the oil changed once every 5 years and it still turns over with one kick.

That being said im use to larger engines like the KLR 650 which ive stretched oil changes to 8000km on.

Oil not as critical as your air filter maintenance.
Well that rings true down here anyway.
We've got a fair bit of dust. Officially the finest (pun) in the world.

I don't think the motor would still turn over if I went 4400 miles without a oil change.
When i worked at Pennzoil 10 min oil change, a husbad and wife came in and the husband looked pissed, and he tells me that it was its first oil change, the husband goes out of town alot, and thaught that she was changing the oil regularly, she wasnt, It was a Jeep Grand Cherokee.... 39,000 miles.... yes thirty nine THOUSAND, it didnt look promising for the motor, the oil looked like tootsie rolls coming out of the drain plug.... you would be surprised what a motor can do....

Mine is semi-dirty just because I always found the more effective. As long as there is no dirt on the inner part of the filter.
