Me too on the F800GS from Beemer...i'm all over that like stink on pooh.......Besides my KLX i want one of them...OR another '75 RD350 2 moke twin from Yami to build!!!...What would be even better would be to come across an '81 TZ750!!!!! a 2 smoke 4 cylinder .......good luck to me but those are my dreams ...both short term and long term...The TZ is something that i would re-mortgage the house for and the F800GS i was planning on next year.......I may however pick up a Mach III triple in the meantime....I just can't get away from some of these bastard 2 smokes....I am a true HP junky and that is where it's at if you know how to build a motor...

I often think about buying a 2 stroke, Like a CR 125 or a 250. I just miss that hard hitting, out of control, power band and the smell of 2 stroke exhaust. But the only place to ride it would be at the local track and I just don't feel like going around in circles all day..
There's street legal two-smokes out there, I just saw this link on the adv site for example

2005 KTM 300exc 2-stroke dirt bike in great condition with rare Wisconsin title (street legal). 2,400 miles. Original owner. Excellent mechanical condition. I have always used Mobil-1 full synthetic pre-mix oil @40:1. Clean air filter and transmission oil changed after every ride.

Extras include: KTM factory blinkers, dual-sport mirrors, 3.5 gal. Clarke gas tank (original included), EE skid plate & bark busters. $3,800
MAN... that thing would be a blast to ride around on....I often wondered ifthe D.M.V here in N.Y.would give me a hard time registering a bike that has been convertedto street from another state. Would they honor the new title?
Nope, they will not care. I know three guys with KTM and one CRF made street legal in another state and are now registered in NY, no problems.

Pretty bad *** bike IMO.....NOt a KLX 250 but i think waaaaaaay better than a Harley ....Before i get bashed here....I think it will do as well as an XR or an XRL offroad.....it's weight is about the same.It would also be upperhand on a KLR.....either way it is my next bike ...no questions asked...do not care about others opinions on this one.

The new F650GS (or F658GS as I've seen it called) has the same parallel twin 800 as the F800GS. It's a little bit shorter, and the engine has be "detuned" slightly. I'm not sure that it will be available in the US.

The seat height on the F800GS is about the same as the KLX. That's the one I'm getting! Too bad both of my helmets are green...

It is a very sweet bike indeed...both of them..(the 650 and the 800)...I'll be on the 800 tho mainly due to the luggage capacity...that is my main reason...Highway ability and luggage....either way it is a very sweet bike IMO....now if they would just release the price tag so i can just cringe and get it over with...I only have a 57 mile ride to my nearest dealer.....I'm figuring in the 9200-10,5 range for it.... but it suits my needs better than the KTM.......forget the KLR .....

I'd also like to try out the BMW G450X. I wonder if that will ever be available here. I think I could be persuaded to give the KLX to one of my kids if I could have this...
