ktm also makes a 640cc super motard style bike. a friend just got one and it goes like a raped ape. won't be as fast as that 950 but it's a lot lighter amd probably $3000 less.

I think I've found a bike... Its a Kawasaki, so at least I got that right. Its a 03' KlX440. full yosh exhaust, re-jetted, 500mi on the new cylinder and sleeve 3000 total on the bike. Its the exact same bike as the drz400, I'm pretty sure suzuki was making bikes for kawai or something. anyway the price is right and so is the timing so why not. any one had a klx400 before???? experiences?

Congrats, Pie, go for it. Everyone knows the green DRZ's are better. And with a 440 kit, like you said, why not?

be aware that those bikes carry their weight high and you really feel it in the single track. they're good bikes outside of that.

BOUGHT IT! whoopie! and damn that thing is F$#%^$@ fast! just pulling on the throttle in second will pull the front end up and over before it hits 3rd and 3rd is like pullin wheelies in second on the klx250... that thing is fun! needs a new battery so i didnt get to ride it too much, but i drove it home and went around the block a few times.

I was test riding my friends 03 drz in the woods with new tires and stock set up, it did feel heavy up top for sure, its nothing like the klx250, but then again, thats why i sold the klx250 in the first place... power. The real test comes when i get on the highway. I wanna be comftorable cruzing with traffic at 75mph and not killing the bike, but the "kawazuki" only has 5 gears... so it might not do much better then the klx. It is gear really really low in the rear, front sprocket is stock. dont know what my top speed is yet because the digital guages wont work with out a new battery. updates soon (and pics)

a friend had one a few years back and had it up to about 95mph. that thing was bone stock so i'm sure you'll be above that. with the big bore in there you won't straining the motor at highway speeds.
