extra fuel

I don't think most fuel nozzles will fit an MSR bottle opening. Regardless, can you imagine what will happen with most gas pumps when you try to fill up the relative small capacity of an MSR bottle? Without a precision control of the pump, I can see a small gas geyser spewing out of that MSR bottle mouth. It may be better to fill them from a gas can with a funnel.

MSR Bottle
"I don't think most fuel nozzles will fit an MSR bottle opening."

Gas Station fuel nozzles fit fine with very little room to spare.
But you are correct in that they are very difficult to fill at the pump without spilling as most pumps do not have fine control.
I am fine with filling them at home from a larger container but still do not have a clean and easy way to fill them on the road.
Guess I really just need to look at them not as ready reserve but as last resort fuel when needed on the road. Then fill as best you can and expect spillage.
A 32 oz Gator Aid bottle has a bigger mouth and is clear so it is easier to fill without spilling then transfer to the MSR. Then trash the Gator Aid bottle. But of course we know filling a non-approved container is a no-no.

the wide-mouth water bottles holds the same amount of fuel and no problem at the gas pump...and, auto shut off works fine when filled...never overflowed at any pump...the msr bottles might not be as hassle free...anyways, it fit perfectly in the bottle holders...little tighter fit than the water bottles...have to twist to put in and out...
