Didn't intend to cause a fuss.
I do want (need) to get an after market pipe but I don't want to scare the neighbor kids either! I was curious to know if the quiet core inserts really worked and if so, how they affected performance.
It sounds as though the 2 tubes are about the same.
Have any of you checked out the Four Stroke Works pipe?...about $100 cheaper!

I have the muzzy... Quiet core makes it slightly quieter, but it's not a huge difference...
Spark arrestor AND quiet core goes one SMALL step further (in terms of noise reduction)...
But it also causes a pretty big reduction in exhaust flow (i.e. power loss)... I could notice the power loss with both inserts installed. But with JUST the quiet-core, power loss is negligible.

I went to take the quiet core/spark arrestor out of my Muzzy for a sound and performance test and it WILL NOT come out. It went in a little tight but somehow its jammed in there now. Crap, I thought this thing would be easily removeable. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas how to get it out?

I had to return my core originally because it was WAY too tight...
It was super tight, even when it was 1/2' from seated, and I wasn't gonna force it in cuz it wouldn't have come out.
The one they sent me in return fits nicely though...

FMF now has the slip on too for about 323.00 at most places. just throwing it out there. and i know nothing about it, just another option im looking at.

why pay $323 for that when the header is the real culprit or at least most of the problem on the 250? It's the header that drains most of the power from the bike to begin with. Someone earlier said the header is perfect- far from it my friend. If you're gonna plunk that type of dough down on a poser slip-on, might as well add another $100 or so and get some real power and not just noise. Be it Muzzy or BigGun, it's gonna make tons more power than just a cheap slip-on. If you DO insist on going with the slip-on, I'd recommend buying the $140 FSW header pipe as I've heard it is the cream of the crop if you're buying your exhaust in pieces. Now you all know what I recommend and why. My question is why install a slip-on just for noise as it's not gonna net you any noticeable power, at least not like a full system. Just my take.....
