Has anyone cut open the pipe for a 2009 yet?
I was thinking, i am not sure if the major restriction is in the tip of the pipe like the Yamaha TTR i owned. There are tips available for other makes, and i thought if i cut out the end of the welded pipe, and drill 3 holes, i could install one of the Billet End caps readily available on eBay.
Do you think i can get better flow until i save enough money for a full system???
Thoughts, concerns, ideas?????

 

unless you can wield with a TIG, i would say its not worth it. off ebay you can pick up a slip on pipe for a couple of hundred. look for a second hand pipe on the forums or on ebay.

 

It's not just the tip, although it is small. There's catalyst in there, and the headpipe has sort of a welded ring in it. If you do cut it open I've had more luck brazing than weld on oem offroad cans. Best thing is to ride someones bike that is piped and see if the sound (loud) is worth it to you for the run quality.
