Default Exhaust question. (not the usual one)

Full system v slip on.

A general non brand specific question.

If i replace the header with one that is larger diameter, will I sacrifice low end torque for top end power?
I am going to replace the pipe and don't want to lose low end power.

Oh and while I am asking, does anyone know the weights of the various exhaust options available?

I think stock muffler is like 12lbs, and im pretty sure my big gun is 8 lbs.
The difference in power and torque with the stock header will be so little compared to a better flowing header you wont even notice it. The big thing is to change the muffler, the stock muffler has the catalytic converter in it, thats what ya wanna get rid of. If i were to do it again, id just get the HMF slip on. My $0.02.... there is alot of opinions on this subject.

Thanks Eric,

That is is my thoughts but I'm interested in, and value the opinions of the members of this forum.

Down in florida, i rode chris's bike with a muzzy, my bike has a big gun, i rode marty's with the HMF slip on, with pumper, and owen's (fingermullet) bike, owen has the full muzzy and the 300 kit.... so i got a pretty good idea of performance on a broad spectrum.... I dont know if anyone else can say they rode the same amount....

So with the benefit of hindsight, what mods would you do if you were starting from scratch?

Depends on the budget.... but my next is for sure the 300 kit... noticed a huge difference in power and torque, and i probably would have gotten the hmf slip on instead of the full big gun. But for sure just rejet, and the normal stuff... and probably a 13-45 gearing.

I have the 300 kit already. I got it as part of the original deal.
I will do all the standard stuff and I have already ordered a jet kit.

What I'm not sure about is the pipe. Slip on or full system?

mmm

its up to you.... i honestly dont think you would notice a big difference in a whole system compared to a slip on.... but do what your wallet can allow.... lol
