I did calibrate my Vapor so it really close on the odo/speedo.

I recall reading in a thread here that motorcycles are notoriously bad, and cars are also off, but not as much (typically still higher, though). So maybe a better approach would be to calibrate your Vapor to someone following you in a car.
But like I said, I'm not familiar with the Vapor, so take this with a grain of salt.

EDIT: I just realized this thread was about exhaust systems -- sorry if I/We highjacked the thread. Please continue with the horse beatings ...

RE: exhaust info
Man, that poor horse is nothing but hamburger by now - beaten and tenderized beyond recognition. I bet it can't even be identified by its dental records. Instead of dividing ourselves based on which pipe we like, why not consider that we must have something in common since we all at least bought the same bike.
I really don't care which pipe people bought. It just gets really tiring hearing some people continually say one pipe is so much better than the others, when that is just one opinion and its been opined at least a billion times by now, but hey, it's a free internet. If you search around, you'll find people that hate Muzzy, and you'll find people that hate Big Gun, and in both cases they'll be backed up with photos of self destructing pipes, stories of atrocious customer service, eating of babies, etc, etc.
So ... buy a Pro Circuit Actually, I think the best bang for the money is probably a FSW head pipe and a stock KLX300 silencer. The former is about $150 or so, and the latter can be had dirt cheap off e-bay and maybe even free if you know someone that knows someone. If I ever have to replace my Muzzy for any reason, I'd probably go for the FSW header + KLX300 silencer.
You can calibrate it several ways and all involve telling the Vapor the circumference of the front tire - that's the number you change on the Vapor, making it bigger or smaller until it calculates speed correctly. I used my handlebar mounted GPS to determine my actual speed. Then, given the Vapor's notion of what the tire size was, the speed it reported, and the speed the GPS reported, I then computed what the actual value needed to be for the Vapor in order to report what the GPS was reporting instead of what it was reporting. Then I'd make that change, and repeat. After about 3 iterations of doing that, my Vapor was reporting to within 1/10th of a MPH of what my GPS was saying, and that's as close as I could get it. Note that it's a lot harder to hold a constant speed to within 1/10th of an MPH than you might think, especially with one eye watching the Vapor's speed, another eye watching the GPS speed, and my other eye watching the road.

I don't know much about the Vapor calibration, but the stock speedo is by no means an accurate basis to calibrate from. While traveling at 100 KPH by the KLX speedo, my GPS was reading only 92 KPH, and it was consistently high by 6-8 KPH all the way down to around 60 KPH.

But then, this is the Internet, and if you search long enough, I'm sure you can find anything!!!
Ok, sorry for interrupting again. Please, get on with the original topic ... exhausts, horses, speedos (either kind), light beer, eating babies, whatever it was ... its all good. [sm=smiley20.gif]

EDIT: I don't know why I even looked for this: http://www.eatbabies.com/ But the worst part was that it didn't take any time at all to find!!! [sm=why.gif]

Is it strictly my imagination or are you pretty much in favor of the Big Gun?
It's kind of hard to tell from your commentary!

the muzzy is noticeably longer, the endcap is ludicrous- it's gay imo. mid '90's sportbikes all had one of these end spouts on it if they had an aftermarket exhaust. the fmf pipe is definitely huge and imo, looks extremely out of place or something. kind of like it wasn't made for the bike, but it will fit so we'll sell it. the BG obviously is the best looking and best fitting. it's tucked up and away and is not too long. not to mention it's premium Race Tools pillow packing lasts longer than others packing.

RE: exhaust info
Hey Ol Guy,
You can see the three pipes in question in the "RE: HMF Slip On" topic. I prefer the looks of the Big Gun and that is what I purchased. The fitment was straightforward with no additional concerns other than the additional expense of the Guiet Core. I mostly ride in the national forest and enjoy sharing the quieter exhaust.
