Default Exhaust heat dampener for side covers and rear fender woes.

I'm in the process of buying new side covers, and the dealer told me that there are foil heat dampers that come separate from the side covers to reduce the heat from the exhaust. I have been unable to find the part number for the foil stuff. Is there anything special about the heat dampers that Kawasaki uses, or can I use a similar product from an auto store? Also, on a side note, how does the stock license plate assembly attach to the rear fender? The bolts that come out of the bottom of the tail light and through the rear fender are too short to attach something else to it and put the nuts back on. The parts diagrams doesn't do much justice on how to put it all together. Thanks in advance.

what year. I can go out and take a pic for you.
I'd think that any heat shield material will work. My local dirt bike store has some and auto stores prob do too.

2006 KLX 250. I'm missing the luggage rack and the license plate assembly so I'm having trouble piecing it together to find out what I need to attach it all together. I think the stock route is not going to fly at $150 for everything! I might just go the Acerbis route.

I hope it sounded different in your head! I'm buying it right now. Any problems with the install? Does it cover the existing hole?

Deej, at one time you posted having a Dual Star LED light in the stock unit. Did you move that to the Acerbis? KLR 650 LED Tail Light!

The stock stuff on the 09 looks like a textured aluminum sheet. It is peeling pretty bad on my bike and the Q4 in not close enough to matter. Maybe the stock cat equipped muffler gets way hot.
