Thanks guys! I haven't given the heat shield a ton of thought, but I quickly checked and the stock (KLX300) heat shield will work. I'll have to tack some nuts to the pipe, then just screw the shield down. I could also take a piece of the same stainless tubing and cut it in half length-ways. I'll give both a try and see which looks better. If all else fails, I'll head over to the dealership and see if something from another bike might work.
I want to mention that I edited my original post, because Imistyped the part number. The part number of my exhaust is 611-6301.
More pics and video will be coming when I get it done. That may be a little while though. TIG welding takes forever! I'm an experiencedwelder, and the amount of welding that needs donecould have been done in 15 minutes with a MIG welder. I'm not at all experienced with a TIG welder, and after 2 1/2 hours, I'm only about half done! I can't work on it again until Wednesday, but I should have the welding finished up then.
