Default European KLX 250 - lame duck!

Dear all,
I just bought a KLX 250 from 2010. It is a European model with injection. On my test run at the seller I did not drive max speed (wet and dark - the weather not the seller) so I only after a few days realized that the acceleration is nice up to 4th gear but then 5th and 6th gear even limit the rps to around 6000 rpm. and the top Speed then remains on around 100 km/h.

I read a bit of course and found the article about placing a shortcut (small wire bridge) in the clutch sensor which should make the bike think it is in idle mode and this should take away the rps limiter allowing the engine turn 10000 rpm in any gear. I tried this - it does not work for me. I then also read that this rpm limit is implied by a Speed sensor and I would Need to turn off my speedometer which will then remove the limit.....

I am puzzled. Can one of you help me? In General (and in the first 4 gears) I am really happy with the bike! it is nice and easy to handly offroad and Looks great. Regards
Peter

Hello, mine is 2012,
connection with the connector on the clutch all the marches coming to 10500
and the speed is 130Kh. Sure that the connection is good?
It also changes the snorchel and air filter.

raulor, if the pictures in the link aren't clear enough let me know. I should be able to provide a rough translation. She does mention that no tools should be used to undo the connector.

hi and thanks for the post. I did exactly as Svendura explained and (if at all) I seem to get the 6th gear to 7000 so almost no difference....
even though it is -3 Degrees - I tried it tonight.

You meant I should also try this snorchel and another airfilter? I did not find any such info on the other KLX pages...

I have also checked if the breaks are too tight, chain tight enough etc.
Wheels are turning freely when in the air...

Any other ideas or any way to measure if my clutch Thing had any Impact? thanks...

Whoever told you that your KLX250 will hit 10.000rpm in all gears with the clutch mod was wrong.

The restriction prevents the bike from going over 7500rpm in 4th, 5th and 6th gear. By unrestricting it, your bike will go over 7500rpm, but the engine will NOT be strong enough to hit 10.000rpm in the upper gears. For that you will need a big bore kit and other mods.

A restricted EFI klx will do about 110km/h on the clock while an unrestricted will do about 130-140km/h on the clock in 6th gear.

Understood your Point. Then I am still restricted despite my clutch attempt.

Now ALL SIX SPEED TO ARRIVE 10500Giri.
Pinion 13 teeth, crown teeth 44, the speed is still 130 140Km / h.

I NOW I HAVE THIS ON MY CONNECTION

If i understand correctly, this mod has samilar result like the one bypassing our clutch switch, but the neutral indicator would be always on?

Alright. In that case you must have performed the clutch mod wrong. Try using a different piece of wire. I have never heard of, and see no reason that this mod should not work on your bike. I have European KLX as well.
