engine stopped without full choke
My 2012 KLX-250S engine immediately stoped without full choke. It also stopped as soon as I opened the throttle.
The engine is fully warmed up, usually this only happen when engine is cold.
The bike has been sitting for a while, about six months.
Thanks,
Karl

I don't know, Brewster...sounds more like the starter motor defribrillator solenoid to me.
OP...keep a bottle of Stabil handy if the bike is going to sit that long. Those pilot jet holes hate untreated fuel sitting in there that long. You may need to use a fine wire to clean out the orifice on the pilot jet if it's gummed up enough. Get a spray can of Chemtool B-12 to do the cleanout. Some compressed air to finish things off wouldn't hurt either.

Yeah, it's an annoyance and pretty common on most single carb bikes. My best guess is that it's some kind of "fail-safe" thing to insure the choke stays engaged when you pull out the **** and that it goes completely back in...or shut off...when you disengage it by pushing it in. If it doesn't have a decently strong spring to keep it retained in its off position when pushed back in, it could be an emission issue perhaps, allowing the plunger to creep open causing a rich condition. And then of course, there's the simple issue of it maybe being the cheapest and simplest method of choke operation when manufacturing a carb...completely on or completely off. I know there have been or are some bikes that had a positional choke that would hold, but I never had it on any of the many carbed bikes I've owned over time.

It'd be a good idea to run the carb out of gas before you store the bike. Not good to leave gas sitting in the carb for too long. I usually put a bit of Seafoam in the tank in the spring with fresh gas to try and keep the feeling system clean of build-up.

I put one of these on the KLR. It will hold the enricher plunger part-open.
