I tend to think the 20W50 might be a possibility in Deej's case - it's a bit thick for Deej's rather cool area. The fact that the noise goes away after his bike warms up tends to support that. But that's just a guess and is easy enough for Deej to confirm or deny by doing a simple 15 minute oil change.

Ummm ya thats possible I suppose. I'm sure its not the Brand or weather it's synthetic or not. The only reason that I ran 20w50 for a little while was because I planned on running Amsoil and thought it was only available for bikes in 20w50 form so I was getting the bike used to it. Once I found out I could get it in 10w40 I took the plunge. Expensive stuff too, My Stealer gets 10 bucks a quart for it. Thank god the Klx only takes a quart and a half. My sporty takes 5. [:@]

I was mistaken in that I had the impression people were hearing a Loud ticking noise all the time. In deej's case the symptoms do point to oil weight / cam chain / or something simple like it.

O YEA, i put the stock exhaust on last night,,, man what a difference. If it was ticking because it was lean, putting the stock exhaust back on should make it stop ticking right? because its runnin richer, well it didnt stop ticking... so its not runnin lean.... somethings wrong.

Well mine is right at the tensioner, so I'm thinking you have a different problem.
