RE: engine/break in question!!!!!!
well my 09 sounds like it is going to blow apart at times but the dealer says it's fine so I can't argue....
I just put the muzzy on and took the air box lid off, and threw the jet kit in and I can't hear it anymore

RE: engine/break in question!!!!!!
I just picked my bike up a week ago. The manual is pretty prohibitive in riding for the breakin period. No more than 4000rpm for the first 800km??? Yikes. Then I have feedback from other riders regarding break it in the way you plan to ride it. Who do you listen to?? I've seen the web site "break in secrets" which basically tells you to ride it like you stole it.
As for noises, I only really notice any knocking/pinging at low RPM's (under 3k) putting along with the motor loaded .. other than that she's silky smooth.

I was thinking on the noise at lower rpm's in regards to pinging and what not .. I know I'm running 87oct. which is probably accounting for most of the noise .. what does everyone else run in theirs? I know the compression certainly supports a higher octane such as 93, anyone else try that out .. complaints / credits re: the difference between?

Between 3000 and4000rpm's the bike will do nothing but 'clankitty-clank-clank'. Just get past break in and stay above 3500rpm's or so and you'll be fine. The bikes don't like to be below 4000rpm's. Enjoy.
