Well, I did fast food in high school (didn't everyone?) Worked for Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) for a year until I got laid off. Went straight in the Marines in 1992 and did work on CH46 helicopters doing airframe and hydraulic work based out of New River NC. Traveled the world, blah, blah blah. I got out in 1996 and went to workas a diesel fuel injection specialist for 5 years. So easy. Got tired of the smell and went to gas. So now I've been at a Lincoln Mercury dealership for 6 years now. I'm the tranny / engine / rear end / front end / and tire guy. No one else likes getting into the "big" stuff and getting dirty. (2 drivablity guys, 1 a/c guy, an oil changer, and an all gravy light maint guy). At least I'm not on flat rate. I get guaranteed 40hrs plus over when I do more than 40. It's a sweet job. Actual benefits suck, but fringe benefits are killer! No stress, cause I ain't trying to beat the clock. I just like to fix things! This is my first on/off road bike since high school, and I really did forget how much fun it is! I also forgot how much sugar sand sucks in Florida............

Grew up working in my Dad's diesel repair shop. Graduated high school and went to college. Found out colleges will gladly take your money and give you crappy professors that don't speak English in return. So I joined the Air Force and worked on Minuteman 3 and Peacekeeper ICBMs for three years and then as a Military Training Leader for the last three years. I have 7 and 1/2 months left of my extended commitment and then it's back to learn the business side of the family business.

Wow, not surprisingly, lots of engineers and mechanics and 'hands-on' kinds of guys and girlshere. I have to admit I only read through the first few pages of posts, but I'mwilling to bet I'm the only guy here who deals with Wall Street on a daily basis.

I'm the Financial Analyst for a relatively small, non-profitstudent loan corporation. Myjob is basicallyanalyzingand reporting on our ~$2 billion bond and loan portfolio. Might sound fancy, but it really isn't. The investment bankerswe work with make more in a week than I take home in a year. I'mjust a finance geek who usually has dirt under his fingernails on Monday morning.

Here's a link to some of my handiwork-
