Default Emergency bypass for sidestand switch

Well I was thinking about removing switch altogether, but every now and then I do forget to raise stand. Hey, we all get older you know! So i figured out a way to bypass it in an emergency. This was probably already done elsewhere. sorry for the rerun if it was. .

Remove seat and you will see connection on right hand side.

There is a reusable cable tie here that needs to be undone to get some slack.

Heres the connection undone. Just connect the two wires indicated together.

Heres end result.

Now the switch is bypassed and you can be on your merry way again.

I think mine doesn't work any ways. Is it suppose to stop the engine if the kickstand is down and put into any gear?

I normally do that too, but every 200 th time or so I forget. It only takes once to have a bad accident. If it werent for bad luck, i'd have no luck at all...

Nice to see you guys disconnect safety equipment properly. The genius I bought my bike from just took a hack saw to the kick stand so it wouldn't push the button. Seriously though I'm just going to rip it all out. All I can picture is me crossing a river only to have that switch short out kill the bike tip over and pin me under water. On a good note my Garmin Zumo is waterproof to 6' deep for 30 min ( I am not)

That's how I did mine. Just remove the switch all together and plug the two terminals together. Saves any drama while in the bush.

That's unfortunate for you, but at the same time halarious. Yeah, I just used a small jumper, with a bullett male connector on one end and female connector on the other, to connect the two.. I think anyway from memory. My switch started to screw up on me, had to disable it or replace it. I just took the switch totally off.

I removed mine altogether after it shorted out in the water. I did get out of the water before it actually died; I guess it took 20 seconds to "soak" in.

I will try that next time. It never really bothered me. My mother's Yamaha shuts off the engine if you try to put the kickstand down while in gear, even with clutch pulled in.
