IIRC, "US Forestry Approved" may be a problem with Delkevics - best call them before buying.. Houstons4 is your new best friend on Delkevics ( If he is still around..?)

Thanks for the great post.

Regarding the 2018 EFI + FMF Powerbomb Header + FMF Q4 pipe, I can't get FMF to get back to me about whether or not additional tuning is required. It's also odd IMHO that FMF sells the pipe and header, but they don't sell the 02 eliminator.

KLXster, it sounds like from what you wrote, running open loop with aftermarket header and pipe, will set the bike to an overly rich condition. Is it a reasonable assumption that removing the airbox lid will help lean it out to the point where we could start seeing a performance benefit?

Thanks

Cormace. I too have reached out to FMF and I am waiting for a response. The part numbers for the Q4 and PC4 for the 2018 are different than the part numbers listed for the 2014 which was the last year we had the klx in the US. That makes me think they have an o2 bung and are intended to be used with the factory o2 sensor. I am hoping to hear back from them soon with an answer. Nobody on the internet has those part numbers in stock. The only picture is on FMF's website and it's a generic picture. Pretty sure it's not even a picture of a klx exhaust at all. The open loop / max richness thing is why I asked about using the cheaper Yoshi without the bung and an o2 eliminator. I would think that along with an air box mod might work just fine. Like KLxster said we need somebody with a 2018 to hit the dyno.

The FMF Powerbomb header is actually the same part number as the previous (2006-2010 carburated) models p/n 042155 ( link)
The slip on IS a new part number (042362) (link), but I just got one and there is no attachment for an 02 sensor so I guess it is open loop city.

That sucks. I wonder why they changed part numbers then? Yoshimura has the o2 bung and now even if you look up a 2014 on their website it lists the new part number with the o2 bung even though the 2014 was carbureted.

Again, add a 12mm O2 bung to whatever midpipe you want to run..Use the same location for the bung as the stock midpipe.

Guys, DJ is showing a PCFC for the 2018 KLX.. Interestingly, it does NOT use an O2 elliminator but does "tie in" to the O2 wiring.. Power Commander Motorcycle Fuel Injection Tuning Module

In general, depending on how "bad" the stock fueling scheme is, just adding a good tuner to a stock bike can make a significant difference..

A call to DJ to find out 1) does it allow/maintain closed loop operating, 2) What mod combos have they developed base tunes for?

Adhering to only the mod combos they have developed base tunes for, would be the way to go..

It stands to reason that a "lidless + full FMF system" 2018 (properly fueled) would be a 24+ hp bike - as a properly tuned carb'd one is right at 24 hp.. Since you 2018'ers are new, a 24 hp KLX is a whole different animal..

Cormace, you might want to check the part number on what you bought. I just got an email back from FMF stating that they do have the o2 bung hence the new part numbers. They also said the first production run is scheduled for the end of this month and wouldn't be shipping until the first or second week of April. BTW that was in reference to part number 042362

Btw. I did respond asking if they did any dyno testing and if so what gains if any they achieved. I also asked if they used the stock fueling and o2 or if they did something else. I will let you know what they say.

Aw nuts. I ordered from Rocky Mountain ATV as they said this model would fit the 2018 and it does not include the O2 bung.

https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p...5546&s=1284180

I wish I hadn't thrown out the box.

Did they say what the difference is between 042362 and 042363?
