That's what I've heard. I bought a smorgasbord of different size hex screws to replace them with.

Well damn. I tried. Perhaps the tilt method of taking off the throttle cable bracket is the way

I think some of you guys are making way to much of this......
It's really not that big deal and I bet no two people remove the carb the same way.
I have some shortcuts I used that worked for me but may not for the next guy.
Try replacing the 3 throttle cables on a GL1800 Goldwing.........then we'd really have something to talk about.
I think it's easier to remove the engine.

So tonight after work I decided to start the teardown. Other then trying to get the carb out, everything went pretty smooth. But that carb was a bitch! I really struggled with getting the throttle bracket free.
I tried what others suggested and unscrewed the bracket. But I tried to keep the cables secured in the bracket and remove the loose bracket from the carb. But I couldn't seem to get the right angle to pull it free. So I ended up loosening the two throttle cable nuts. After they were out of the bracket I got the carb out. All the while I'm thinking "how in the hell am I going to get this back in." I'll cross that bridge tomorrow after I rejet.
