Was this in reply to my post about changing gearing?? I know its a 250 and I'm perfectly happy with it, but others have stated with slightly altered gearing when you are traveling in 6th gear you no longer have to worry about speed dropping when you are going uphill, and if this is the case it is still a 250, not a 600, that will keep its pace in 6th, I don't see why this wouldn't be a wise mod to do if you are constantly going to have to be in 6th gear battling uphills before you get to the trails. But if you do not have to worry about this, keep it stock and tear the trails up. I on the other hand, will do the mod and be happy with the outcome, more power to everyone with whatever floats your boat.

I just felt you were being unrealistic not expecting to downshift to go up "a big long hill" thats all, no offense intended [8D]

incabiker,

Basically you can keep dropping hte final drive ratio until 6th gear is the same effective ratio as 5th gear is now. But that means that all of the other gears get lower. If your doing a lot of tight trails, that's great, but if there a lot of road use, too low is not ideal.

I had my bike at 13/45. I went to 14/45 and like it better for all around use. For street use I was shifting too much and 1st was too short.

No offense take, like I said I wasn't stating that I wasn't happy with this bike and its performance, I was just saying with others stating there experience with the change in gearing they were able to make 6th gear extremly useful for riding on the highway, and that I need. But if I didn't need it then I would just ignore it. It wasn't that I was being unrealistic, and wouldn't do the change if it wasn't gonna benefit me, but since its gonna make the 6th gear put out more power, then [sm=happy046.gif][sm=yeahsmile.gif]

I'm dropping my gearing to 14-45, that way it only drops it a little. It will give me more leverage when I need to loft the front wheel, and also give 6th gear more power but still be a little faster then what my 5th gear is right now. It sounds like a perfect compromise to me.
