I just ordered from Ron Ayers, less that $40 for everything except the snorkel...Come on Big Brown Truck...

I have a couple of questions:
1. When drilling out the slide hole, how far do I drill? I have not taken the carb off yet, and I just want to make sure I dont screw anything up. (Is it obvious when I take things apart?)
2. I ordered both the 125, and 128 main jets. I see that some of you guys are running the 125, and others are running the 128. What would the difference be between the 2?

I plan to take the snorkel out (possibly replace it with the KDX one someday), and I will also be putting an exhaust on when I do the carb work.

KFalc,

Okay, on the slide, it's just a hole like the one on the right side of this pic:

Basically, it's just open it up to 7/64ths.

125 vs 128 main jet. It's just something you have to try. To be honest, on jetting it is really a feel thing. Back when I was racing cars in NHRA, the best way to set the jets in the carb was by watching MPH on your timeslip. Make a run, change up one size, if the MPH goes up, go up another size. When the MPH does not go up anymore, drop down one size and leave it alone.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other info.

Marty,

Thanks, thats exactly what i was looking for...
On the other pics that I've seen it looks like its a deep hole that needs to be drilled, but this pic shows it in much better detail.

I thought the jet was mostly preference, I am glad I ordered both.

Thanks for the info, and the quick reply.

Kris

Just a word of caution, the slide in the KLX250 may be different to the 300's. I know that when I looked to modifying my 250 slide, articles said either buy the 300 slide or epoxy the hole near the top of the slide. I think that this enables the slide to raise more quickly for better response
