Dyno Results for Kato
Dyno $20. air box lid on, no snorkle, K&N, 130main, 35 pilot, stock needle raised .050inch., Muzzy. My HP scanning software went T/U, so the pic will have to do.
since it's so hard to read...
20.35 hp @ 8600rpm
13.4 ft-lbs @ 7000
looking at the fuel ratio, it shows extremely lean until 6000rpm, then it gets too rich after 9500. So it appears the stock needle is a bit too thick for optimum mix. Keep in mind the stock(raised .050 in.) and N1TC(@ #2) are very similar. Now, I'm waiting on the '96 KLX250R(adjustable) needle to arrive. If it is thinner near the top, it will be a great needle combined with a 128 jet.

Cool! What kind of tires did you use and are you running the stock gearing?

Very interesting, I should run over and have that done and see what the difference might be between are two set ups.

I dare yah, no I double dare you to add a washer and go to the 128 main! I think you're getting too hung-up on needle taper...but that's just me.

Tremor, today I am putting in a #40 pilot, 128 main and N1TC @ 3. I have a 1.29mm rise on the stocker, and not too sure how high I can go. Then again, the stocker has a longer tip which may allow a washer or two more.

Cool! I seem to recall you had some sort of sputtering problem earlier that led you to start thinking about the 250R needle?
On another note, I have removed all of my carb heat plumbing in preparation for a pumper carb installation. I you want any or all of the parts, you're more than welcome to them for the price of normal stateside USPS shipping. All of the parts are a direct bolt-on. Just say the word.
