Dyno Jet Kit Confusion
Hey guys, I have an 07 KLX250S, and was wondering what the difference is between installing the main jets for higher altitdudes, also, whats the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2. I have an aftermarket FMF pipe as well. Just trying to sort this out, and any help would be great.

Alright, I guess I should've explained this first. I'm actually trying to uncork the bike, and am looking at different Jet Kits for the KLX. There are Kits for the 300 from '97-07, and some new ones for the 09-10 250's. Is it possible to put the newer kits in for an older bike?

I don't know about an 07 and which kit to get but stage 2 refers to airbox mods, like pulling the snorkle, maybe drilling some holes in the lid or loosing it completely. You want to either pull the snorkle or get one that flows better from a bike like the KDX. I pulled mine but alot of these guys loose the whole lid.

You do not want to buy an 09 kit at all. It is the 300 stage 2 kit which has a better needle that you want. I think the number is 2206, don't quote me though.
This would be installed in conjunction with a new pipe and freeing up the airflow through the air box

Spend a little time searching the other threads here on "opening up the KLX" and I think you'll find for the '07 you want the Dynojet 2206 Stage 2 kit for the Kaw KLX 300. This is the one I bought using the recommendations of others here on the forum and will put in tonight using a 128 main get, 38 pilot, drilling out the enrichment jet to 0.018" for easier starting, Kouba air/fuel screw. My bike is a stock '06 250 (no big bore yet), HMF slip on, toss the airbox lid, high flow air filter, riding 3,000 to 9,000 feet.
From the Dynojet Site:
http://www.dynojet.com/jetkits/index.aspx
Stage 1 Kit: Intended for motorcycles with a stock engine using the stock airbox, air filter and stock pipe. Stage 1 kits are fully adjustable to allow the use of a well designed aftermarket pipes and stock replacement air filters like K&N. Stage 1 kits are designed to improve throttle response and driveability and in most cases power increases of approximately 5% throughout the entire power range can be achieved.
Stage 2 Kit:
Intended for motorcycles with a stock or mildly tuned engine using a well designed aftermarket pipe with a modified airbox and a stock replacement air filter. Stage 2 kits are designed for applications where individual filters cannot be installed and for applications where airbox modification improves the engine's performance. In most cases power increases of approximately 8% can be achieved.

You can use either of the DynoJet kits. Some prefer the KLX300 kit and some will use the 09'-10' KLX250 kit. I'm using the 09'-10' KLX250 kit in my 06' KLX250. It is really a much better improvement over stock. Snappier throttle response & better mid-range power. I did the Stage 2 with the 124 main jet. OEM exhuast pipe, with a KDX220 snorkle installed. I still have the smog equipment on and have not drilled out crank vent.

if you do stage 1 and keep the intake stock, its a better idea especially if you ride on the road. if you go stage 2 you gain more mid range but start gasping and gain turbulence at top end. i actually just re-factoried my whole bike and its easier to ride on the hwy with the 250 and stock intake and pipe.

Stage 1, Stage ll Just tune the bike to your liking. Keep adjusting until it suits your riding style. I find the bike likes fuel and the more air you give it, the more fuel it wants. More air in is important as more air out.
