Klxster, I have read through both dyno threads, but I just want to confirm that I'm on the right track. I have an FMF Powercore 4 slip-on, stock carb and timing, KX snorkel, foam filter and jetted appropriately based on seat-of-pants and plug color. Unless I'm installing a megabomb header and MCM, I need to follow the "Red" recipe for lidless jetting, right? I'm in Florida so all of my riding is between 20 ft above and 18" below sea level LOL Help!

Well I've posted so many "RED" dyno charts lately that I have no idea which one you are talking about - but not to worry, all you have to do is get either the DJ2206 kit or the DJ2152 kit and a K152 main jet or DJ140 main jet..

You will not be drilling your slide or using the DJ slide spring.

You Will be using the stock slide spring, stock lift hole, DJ140/K152, and clip positioned on (2N with 2152 kit) or (1N with 2206 kit)..

About which kit to get - If the MCM is in your future, you would be able to use the spring in the 2152 kit (once MCM'd).. The best use of the DN0352 needle (2206 kit) with MCM is yet to be determined - it may be as simple as using the 2206's drill bit to drill the slide lift hole and dropping the clip to 2N.. Or perhaps leaving it at 1N, keeping the stock lift hole, and spending a couple dollars with DJ to get the 2152 spring sent to you..

KLXster, thanks and a quick follow up question. I have the DJ 2182 kit with jet sizes up to 132 (128 installed currently). This kit includes the DNO228 needle. I assume I need one of the kits listed above so I will have the larger jet and the recommended needle, is that correct? I don't mind buying the whole kit vs just the 140 jet because I want to get this right while I have the carb off the bike. Thanks again!

Edit: Looks like the 2152 kit is identical to the 2182 kit per the DJ website, i.e. it doesn't contain the 140 jet. So, do I just need a DJ140 jet and the needle from my existing kit?

Lj, if you already have the DN0228 needle, you certainly do not need to buy a kit..
just call the local "tuner shops", or most any motorcycle dealer/parts store - ask for a K152 or DJ140 main jet for a Keihin CVK..Then take your stock main jet with you so you can verify the new jet is configured similarly to your stock one - meaning, it'll fit.. You should have no problems getting this done - Harleys used a version of the CVK ! But if necessary, call DJ and have them send you a DJ140.. None of the kits (2206, 2152) have a DJ140 in them..

Set the clip on 2nd notch from the top (2N) , put in the DJ or Keihin jet, and you are done!

DRM, I have that "FAQ" link on my sig line - it has proven to be a good/correct x-over chart between the DJ and K main jets.

I'm quite sure a lot of members have looked at that chart in horror - I think in the "olden days", it was touted to put in a K128 main jet instead of the stock K118 - what a horrible lean fuel curve that surely caused with a snorkel delete and a slipon!

Notice a DJ128 = K138 !!!
A DJ128 is the "standard stage 2" DJ setup for our KLX's with a snorkel delete and stock exhaust !

Only consolation is that we NOW know how to properly fuel a forum modded KLX..

Thanks KLXster, really appreciate all of the great dyno info and advice! I did order the DJ140 jet yesterday, and since shipping from DJ was $16!! for 3 day, I went ahead and ordered a 136 and 144 at the same time.

Aight lj, pull the airbox lid off (put it in the attic), set clip on 2N (on the DN0228) and install , install the DJ140 (if you are under 2k ASL), and that's it - do nothing more - no drilling nothing, re-springing, etc.. Set fuel screw to 3.5 out (if stock #35 pilot jet and under 2k ASL).. Fire it up and hang on!

Good choice of jets - how did you know?
You'll use the 136 with your current setup for higher altitutudes ( above 2k ASL )..
The 144, and a reset of the clip to top notch (1N), is for when you put on a PowerBomb or Megabomb header..

New jets are on the FedEx truck for delivery today. The carb is cleaned, clip moved to 2N, ready to pop it back on and go! I'll report back next week.
