Default Dual Sport Tire recommendations

New to the forum, back on a motorcycle after long lay off, I now have a KLX 250S and enjoying it immensely, riding both road and off road, currently using Michelin AC10 front and rear, I ride approx 50% black top, 50% state game land trails/snow mobile trails, love the Michelin ACV10's off road but not so keen with their performance on road in the rain, or on wet roads the back tire is getting low so will need to change tires soon any suggestions.

I was going to get Kenda K760 Trackmaster II tires but that's mostly because I'm cheap/poor, lol. They are 90/10 (dirt/road) but the Kenda K720s are a good price too and are 50/50. From what I have read, people seem to be happy with them for the price to performance ratio. Actually I might get the K760 for the rear and the K270 for the front as I ride around 75/25. A lot of the trails I ride have some pretty loose-dirt hill climbs so I think the K760 on the rear should help me there. Where as the K270 on the front should hold up better on the tarmac and provide more traction. That's my thought process anyways. Anyone feel free to educate me if I'm thinking about it wrong.

I spooned on a set of K760 Trackmaster II's last tire change. It took a few miles before they finally stopped feeling the bike was going to slide out from underneath me on pavement. I've got a thousand miles or so on them now and I like them. They meet my most important criteria "cheap" and hookup well on the gravel and sandy roads around here.

Here is my contribution...

I have run over 50,000 miles on Duro Median HF903/904 tires in almost all conditions from playing on the back roads keeping up with my supermoto and sport bike riding friends, to trails in Ohio and West Virginia. They stick like glue on the road and the only thing better off road would be a 10/90 knobby. I get around 4000 miles a set before the tread is shallow enough to lose traction and the front droning due to cupping. They also have, for me, the perfect size tire for the KLX250 power in a 4.10-18. They do have the fatter 120/80 and 120/90 tires for those who want them.

The tread on the back is full depth across and blocks webbed side to side, creating a paddle effect for forward acceleration while having less squirm when banked over in a corner.

Try a set, the pair is about $100 for the 90/90-21 and 4.10-18. You may notice the block pattern is similar to Heidenau, don't know who was first with the pattern or why, I've been running the Duros on my 650 since 2001, looking at them in the parts catalog for about five years previous to that.

I just spooned on some continental TKC80's and love them off and on road. I had trakmasters that were excellent off road but very unpredictable on road. I found this strange as I have the same tires on my plated KDX and it doesn't feel half as bad as the KLX did. The Conti's so far do well offroad and are very good on road. First ride I was surprised how quiet they are.
