Screw 50/50, get a Dunlop 606! I get 3000 out of a set on the streets and off road. It doesn't get better than that.

I have Bridgestone 301s front/302 back on right now. They had only 100 miles on them according to the guy I bought the bike from.

They seem to do OK but they are still a 50/50 tire and would like to lean a little more toward off road treads.

BTW

what tire came stock on the 2006 KLX?

I have the stock tires on a 09 KLX250S and have a tough time with the sand up here at Busco Beach (1,800 acres of trails north of Fayetteville). They're good for dirt, motorcross, and on-road, but sand is tough period.

I have a Dunlop 606 on the rear....it holds up well on a little engined bike like the KLX. I have a non-DOT rated tire on the front, because I need the bite on the edges when out in the desert. Although I have the hard-terrain Dunlop version on the front (71), it does great in the sand. On trails, you just have to have a lot of experience (and maybe a steering damper), in the wide-open, it sure helps if you just get up above 30-35 mph and hold on loosely. I know that sounds crazy to those that aren't used to sand, but, it really works.

I run a Pirelli MT43 rear and MT21 front. The MT43 works better than a paddle on these little bikes.

Oh yeah I learned how to deal with sand long ago on my XR250R.

Hell thats what all the trails I used to ride on consisted of, you kinda just let the bike go where it wants to go and hang loose. You steer more with your *** than you do with your arms.
