Drill choke to .018, why not .020. Where to drill.
I see that .018 is the size everyone says to drill the choke for easier cold starts. How was this size determined? Would a bit larger hurt?
I think I remember pics of where to drill. I'd like to see that again before I get into it. Anyone have a link to that?
Thanks

I drilled mine to .018 and it was plenty big. I could flood it out on full choke until I turned the pilot jet in 1/2 more turn. I would not recomend bigger, its not better. .017 would be fine. I have no idea if they make one. I sent my bit to maylasia. He said it worked fine.

browine, the only issue with going to .020" is that you might not be able to use your choke as long as you might like in some cases before the regular idle circuit can take over. You might find the bike starts up quickly with the choke on like you want, but then you have to turn it off quickly because it will probably start burbling too richly after just a few seconds. So you turn the choke off, but the motor isn't really warm enough to run without the choke so you have to keep putzing with the choke off and on until the regular idle circuit will take over. Now, this often can happen to some degree anyway, but with an excessively rich choke circuit, it can be a bigger aggravation.

Started mine yesterday morning after setting out all night. It was 28F (-2C) and it started right up. It seems that if my bike is going to set for several days, emptying the carb bowl (petcock off) at the end of the last right still helps on the next startup, but the 0.018" ream out is the ticket!
