Doubletake Mirror
#11
My mount on the master cylinder is already jacked from a previous owner and the mirror is froze in the perch. I think I will get a replacement master cylinder off ebay and just replace it. I would think with the doubletake mirrors that the ram arm would give at one of the ***** before damage is does to the perch on the master cylinder.

Mirrors can be funny things and can involve some real preference. After putzing with mirror systems of many types and styles, I've found all of them to be relatively useless on a single cylinder motorcycle, even on smooth pavement. ...
...and I've found being able to see what's behind me to be more of an issue on the KLX when I hit a higher speed section of pavement, and cagers are bearing down on my 65 mph cruising KLX.

I happen to like having mirrors off-road. The last time I was off-road and turned (for a split second) to look behind me, I crashed into a tree. Luckily I wasn't going too fast, and my shoulder took most of the impact.
I do understand the concept of having something that won't cause damage to the master cylinder in a crash though... wish the Double Take website wasn't blocked here at work.

I have been using a double take mirror on my KLX found it to be pretty good, rear view on surfaced roads is good - you just need to make sure the thumbscrew is good and tight if you get up 70mph or so. I have just added another for the left hand side as they are so quick to fold down and felt vunerable in traffic - although in the UK there is no actual need for any mirror in law.
If you do take a tumble with them un-folded they take a fair battering without any damage. Also, if you change bikes or have two bikes just buy extra mounts to suit.

Yes, I bought one and use it on a Ram mount. I generally use it for trails only and put the one stock mirror that is still good and one Honda mirror that TNC recommended for street riding. Busted one stock mirror on the trail.

More seriously , I don't have mirror vibration problems. I'm sure the Renthal bars I use help damp some of the vibration.
I looked at the Doubletake mirrors but didn't like the price and the bulk. I like Ken Sean mirrors better:

I only use the Ken Sean on the right side. I use the oem mirror on the left with the bolt loose enough that the mirror rotates when it hits the Earth.

I have not had any vibration problems but I did find the left one especially does not give me the rearward view I like. A mirror that I can place outward a bit would be better. I thought about the double take mirrors for this but someone said they did not give them a better field of view.

I bought a set of these, but I need an extension for the right side perch. It sits down below the resevor on that side and won't let me use the clamp very well. Does anyone know where I can get a "riser" that screws into the pirch and allows you to put the ram ball up say an inch higher? I have been looking but must not be using the right term to get one to show up.
