Thanks for the heads up, I'm still undecided about the shifting, I have never had a Kawasaki that shifts poorly like this one does

No prob... Actually, I should correct my post above...

I have not actually fixed the neutral sensor problem yet... I just assumed I had the shaft on 180 degrees out, but that wasn't the case when I took it back apart. The shift stars are in fact keyed differently. Here's what I'm talkin about:

This is the new shift star installed, looking through the sensor hole:

And the old star in front of the new star:

Note where the locating pin is on the old star, compared to the new one:

I wasn't able to get a hold of FourStrokeWorks yesterday, so I sent them some emails with this information.
Hopefully they get back to me today! I can't see an easy way to solve this aside from new parts!
(Meaning leaving the bike like this for a while. I don't wanna waste any more oil! No, I won't re-use it either - that's yucky! )

hey heres an idea instead of cutting the kdx snorkel inside the airbox to get more air around it. what about just cutting it off? i thaught about that... i just might have to do the stock snorkel too... looks like alot more air !!!

@EMS_0525:
Yeah, sure that would work better in terms of air flow, but at the trade-off of more dirty water getting splashed onto the filter element...

With my setup, I'm hoping that any splashes that do happen to make their way into the snorkel inlet, will splash against the side and drip down to the bottom of the airbox, and drain out. If you just chop off the lower half of the snorkel, there's a little more chance for that muddy water to get on the filter (though not a lot).

I did the double snorkel tonight and maybe it is just me but wow. I can really tell a difference. The bike is just about what I want and I have still to install Dynojet and Big Gun so I can't wait to see what it is like after the last two mods.

Kawi Wawi and others,

Can you direct me to the procedure with pics for the double snorkel mod? I see your pics of the finished product at the top of this thread. Looks great.

It looks like you just need to cut a new hole of the same dimensions as the original hole. Flip the original snorkel around and plop the new high-flow snorkel into the new hole. Do I have it right or is there more to it?

Did you use any sealant or anything to secure the snorkels into the box? I would not think so, but I want to prepare everything before I begin the "attack of the mods" later this week.

Thanks, Chris

That's exactly right Chris... Just turn the other one around, and cut a hole for the new one.
I used black RTV sealant for the second one, because it doesn't really have the "pop-in" effect like the first one.
I had to cut off most of the bottom part of the snorkel so it clears the filter element.

Thanks KW.

(Threadjack Alert) While the topic of RTV sealant is up, can you or someone tell me the difference between the black that you used for this mod and the red that some have suggested for the plugs on the smog plumbing removal. Is one high-temp and one not? If so, is there any downside to using red on the new snorkel so that I only have to buy one product?

Thanks, Chris

Well I certainly hope you don't run it that way for too long.
