Don't wear dirtbike gloves on the street!

Please elaborate. I have tried using wax & silicone sealant on the seams of many pairs of street & MX boots before, but I have yet to find anything that REALLY works.

I Bought the Alpinestars SP2's a while back.... and im glad i did.
A year ago on my old 125cc bike I went riding round a bend at 30mph the back wheel decided to lock up, causing me to low slide.
Sliding down tarmac on my front a few meters isn't fun at all.
The gloves might have saved me from a skin graft or having stitches, but not from a broken wrist and elbow
Hope your alright

Klim Dakar Gloves - RevZilla
Icon Pursuit Stealth Gloves - RevZilla
I keep both of these on me when I'm heading to the dirt. They fit easily in a backpack or pocket. I just change them out when i get the dirt. Nothing beats leather.

I believe it's just in design of this specific boot, I haven't waterproofed myself but many have used mink oil or sno seal, its not like walking through a lake waterproof, but jumping in and out, or a quick river crossing they should work.

ahnh666 I love those gloves almost got them! I opted for something with a little more palm protection, but those m10's just look soooo cool!!! Glad to hear they held up I wasnt sure with the reviews but if you say they hold up well those might be my next pair in a couple years.
Thanks for hoping I heal up guys! I got pretty lucky with just a broken and cut up pinky because I can still ride to work which is pretty important to me because my bike is all I got so if I couldn't ride I'd be walking lol. Riding with my pinky up will take some getting used to though. Maybe it will make me look classy lol

FWIW...
Most all off road gloves have fake leather palms. Fine in dirt, but will shred on pavement. I wear leather palm gloves on most all street riding for that reason.
Of course some road race type gloves also add "slider rivets" or other "slider type materials" in the palms. If positioned properly they allow the base of your palm, the part that hits first and carries most weight, to slide on the pavement without letting the leather tear through there.
So that's kind of the logic behind not wearing off road gloves on road. Fake leather palms that shred.

This thread reminds me that I made my own pair of asphalt-resistant riding gloves about 20 years ago out of a $20 pair of deerskin roper's gloves and a 100-pack of rivets. They have outlasted MANY other pairs of much more expensive motorcycle gloves I have worn through since!

I always wear motocross gloves when ridin my klx mainly for the breathability of them in the hot months. Of course i take ALL the corners around here like a grandma since ks uses sand on their roads and when we get rain it all washes onto the streets. Even on the ninja i was careful. I leave the knee griding to the road courses. I do need to get some nice leather sport riding gloves though.
