I have the 2152 DJ kit also. I used the stage 2 instructions with the 124 main. I have removed the lid completely and I also have a FMF PowerCore 4 muffler with stock air filter. Bike runs perfect. It has very little pop on deceleration. 2 turns out on the fuel screw. I am at 2000 feet in elevation. Elevation makes a difference in jetting. Sea level you will jet a littler richer then you would at 2000.

Hmmm... makes me wonder if I should back off a little on mine. I'm pretty sure I'm WAY rich right now. I'm running a DJ120 main, but I'm at 4700+ feet elevation. I think I'm going to back it off one size tomorrow, and see what happens. I have the day off anyway, and it's looking like it may rain.

With the extra hole in the KLX 300 needle holder maybe you're getting a more complete atomization of the fuel and a more vigorous burn in the piston. Maybe. As opposed to just maximizing air and fuel volume.[/QUOTE]

Ive never heard of this mod. Do you just take a klx300 needle holder and put it in your carb? Can you do this with stock 250 engine or is this part of the 351 kit?

Thanks.

Holy thread resurrection!

Yes, the klx300 needle holder or jet-needle part will fit in the klx250 carb. I did this mod prior to going pumper.

Wow!...2012. Didn't they quit making the KLX250 like 5 or 6 years ago?...wink, wink.

No, I appreciate his diligence, IDRIDR. Many just ask the same thing every month instead of researching...LOL! IDRIDR, have we not worn our KLX's out yet? I just did nearly 3 weeks last month in the Big Bend TX area. Weather and conditions were just about perfect...and no shootouts with bandits on the Rio Grande river.

I'm trying. Lol
I got a 2009 klx 250s for my first bike. I'm the 3rd owner and love the bike!

My issue is this: it's cold natured like allot of the klxs. Also it likes to idle at about 1500-1600rpm and its driving me insane. Ive been reading about how they come lean from the factory and I got all these ideas for rejecting and exhaust but in actuality I just want it to run better.

I noticed somebody already opened or cleaned the carb at some point and I'm curious what jets are in it currently. After reading I think I'm definitely going to do the .018 drill on the starter jet to fix my cold start problem. My big dilemma is: do I need to go up or down in jet size to bring my idle speed comfortably down, but also strong where it's at. Book says 1300 +/- ... we all know.

sounds like it could even just be an air leak..
thoughts?

That was an entertaining thread. My brother did the research and found D. Pippin's KLX site, I did the research as well and all seemed to lead back to those jets and settings if using Kiehin jets. Ours were plug and play done Pippin's way.

So you did all the drilling and stuff he suggests on his site and it worked?

If you put on a KDX 200 snorkel, I think you have to start mixing some oil in your fuel....?

Um...are you being facetious? Is this a real concern where you ride? Kinda makes possible encounters with mountain lions or bears in my neck of the woods seem rather trivial.
