DO I NEED TUBES for my new D606s ?

RE: DO I NEED TUBES for my new D606s ?
You guys are a WEALTH of info. I always wondered what those extra holes in the rims were for !Since there is only one I see it's not like a beadlock ona beadlock4x4 rim. I'd have to agree it's for low pressure applications where the tire could spin on the rim.....possibly pinching the tube which is held from spinning by the valve stem. Or is it if the tire spins onthe rim it will spin the tube and rip the valve right off? How bad is it at say 30 mph. With my gearing the fastest I'd probably ever go is 55. Anyways, for the price I'm going to pick them up with the tubes, but I don't plan to balance the tires. I rarely go on a road over 30.
As you can see I'm off work today since these MD wimps close everything anytime there's more than an inch of snow. Got a lot of work done around the house, though !

Vibration due to rim locks is not really noticable at 30 MPH, IMO. But over about 50 to 55 MPH it became noticable to me and I took my wheels to the shop and they balanced them using spoke weights. The only downside to spoke weights is that you can't ping the spokes any more an listen to the tone to make them all the same tightness. Next tire change I have a 2nd set of rim locks where I'll have dual opposing which should balance themselves out. The challenge with that setup will be getting the tires over two rim locks. [&:]

I think that if your going under 50, they will be fine IMHO.

If your staying under 50 you wont need to balance the wheel trust me, been there. Even with the rimlock make sure you leave your valve nut loose otherwise you can still pull the stem outta the tube(even the hd tubes). Trust me I've done it[:@]

I think a 5.10 inch tire corresponds to more like a 120 or 130 metric size tire. However, I would think a 100/100 tube would work OK. Front sizing looks fine, though.
