Default Disabling the speedometer

I'm not trying cheat anyone, but I am cheating myself when I run my SM wheels as for every real mile traveled the odometer will rack up extra distance over 1 mile because of the smaller wheels.

Any ideas on how to deal with this? I guess 1st step is to figure out 1 real mile vs. 1 SM mile.

I just realized this is probably illegal, sorry mods. I hope everyone understands the situation.

...goes to see how much an OEM speedo from the SF costs....

Illegal? Well if you ever plan on selling the bike, it may be unethical, but I'm not sure its illegal. I suppose if its illegal on a car its probably the same for a bike, but I wouldn't worry about it. Besides miles are translated to the bike's motor running, so maybe you could figure out the difference and unhook/hook for the appropriate time period, but seriously I bet its not that big a deal. Get yourself a GPS and see how close it is to the actual speed, maybe its will fix the 4.4mph difference we all experience with stock wheels.

Hehe yeah...I remember running the GPS and comparing. That and doing speed runs past one of those stationary radar stations....they were ALL different.

I suppose when the time comes I will tell the seller that indicated mileage is actually less because of the wheels.

Stay tuned...dyno testing coming soon...

Don't worry about it factory speedos are so far out especially on dual sports it aint funny. Besides I don't care how many times your wheel has turned. Whether a 21 or 17 inch makes no real diff except for gearing. Like was said tis the abuse the engine takes. To put it into persfective, no honey I was not circumsised, I wore it off. Dont ban me again.

Believe it or not, in our town with one traffic light they have been using those Indicators on both ends of town, and consistently I can do just a hair under 35 and it reads 30 every time.
