Disabling the KACR?
#11
I'm still on the fence whether the KACR is useless or not. Kawasaki put that suckered in there for a reason and if they thought they could save millions by eliminating it you think they would have. When I did the MCM I thought about leaving it off but my thought was "it's there for a reason" so I spent the time to install it exactly in the right position, no starting issues. If your bike starts well why would you consider removing it? I wonder how a bike with the KACR remover would start in a cold weather situation?

Do the MCM! I was amazed how much of a difference it made.

When the MCM is done, where are the gains most noticable, low, mid, or top end? And, are there any losses at any range? My bike has every mod except the MCM and 351cc kit. I won't do the 351 until I have a lot more miles on the bike. Pretty happy with it right now.

Full exhaust, airbox open, and jetted already. Just not the cam mod yet. All my mods are listed in my signature. Just click the "My Bike" link....

I think it was there and Kaw engineers didn't bother removing it when the new e-start 250 came out, based on the 250/300 kick start only R models.
I will also add whatever blend of gas we get here in Ohio, if the stuff sits in a carb for a week on my 650 it won't start, the 250 sat for about 2 weeks and wouldn't start. Drain the float bowl and they both fire up like normal. That and the gas on the ground won't instantly light with a match. I did get the gas from the 250 to light putting the tip of the match on the gas for about 20 seconds, then it finally lit. So anyone who has starting issues after the bike has been sitting for a week or two, drain the float bowl and try it with gas fresh from the tank.

Alright, thanks for the help guys!
I innocently inquired about the KACR and I am now heading out to the shop to do the MCM, check valve clearances, and disable the KACR (KLX678's method for now)!
After reading up on it, the MCM seems too good to pass up!

I've been giving the the KACR some thought and after I did the MCM I reinstalled the KACR with Loctite and pressed it back in. The Kawi manual states that this part is not serviceable so imagine if it spun off the end of the cam. After rereading KLX678 posts I do feel its useless and I'm going back in and removing it
