Didn't order a Pilot Jet
Looking at the #2206 DJ kit and don't see any pilot jets in the parts list.
Looking at the mods on the bottom of you veterans posts (how do you do that ) very few mention pilot jet #.
I read this link http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/carbs101.pdf and if I understand correctly, the pilot jet in combo w/ the air screw controls performance from idle to 1/4 throttle. Low end response - snappyness is what I would really like to improve. Am I going to need a #40 pilot to achieve this, or will the DJ kit along with the stock 35 work?
One other thing that concerns me is my Kouba screw. Installed it tonight and it looked like the pointy tip was slightly bent. It went into the air port okay though. I thought it was interesting that my original air screw was fully seated from the factory when I took it out.
I could swear that the o-ring was between the spring and the spacer and not underneath the spacer like it should be. Didn't pay good enough attention during disassembly, until I was figuring out how to reassemble.

Stock #35 will work with the DJ kit. Those running a different needle to the DJ item really need to run a larger pilot jet.
FWIW, I ran a #40 pilot for a short time and went back 1 to a #38 pilot as I couldn't get the low end pick up right. It's sweet now though.
There is a fair amount of overlap between the fuel screw, pilot jet, needle, needle jet and main jet. It's not a 2 stroke so will perform well without being spot on. Most people will find a "feel" that works for them.

When I recently installed a 300 cylinder on my '06 KLX250, I was sure I would need to go from the OEM 35 pilot to a 38 or so. I have an uncorked airbox and a full Muzzy exhaust. The 38 was too big, and I returned to the OEM 35 pilot. Idle is smooth and strong, and the transition from closed throttle to any other throttle position is smooth and linear...no stumbles. I'm using a DJ needle, and as WOK suggests, that makes a big difference.

I have the 40 pilot and it has worked well for me. It starts up instantaneously hot or cold, can be ridden off right away and the choke can be turned off after about 30 seconds unless it's really cold. It also idles very smoothly.
