Default Did you remove your float bowl vent tubes?

I'm assuming these are the two hoses on either side of the carb that are routed down to the bottom of the bike. I was told they are designed that in the case the bike is tilted over on its side, it will vent fuel down to the bottom of the bike. Does it serve any other function? Have you removed yours?

I'm still trying to perfect my jetting as I'm still getting highway cruising stutter and hard acceleration stutter intermittently. The troubleshooting guide said to make sure these were removed if you are having cruising and/or acceleration stutter.

So, has anyone who has re-jetted removed these two tubes?

Not recommended, when you fall down, and you will. Your float bowl overflow goes out those tubes....not the best idea to have gas spilling out on the hottest part of the motor, ya know.

But mine are thrashed and I'm not too worried about it...no performance difference thou.

Well the carburetor has to vent to work properly. My understanding is its something to do with air pressure balance in the carburetor vs. the outside. You have to have the carburetor vents, either for that reason, or yeah, so that if you dump it you don't start a fire.

Yeah...I'm not sure what's up but the dynojet instructions clearly say to make sure they are removed.

I mean, you dump it while going up a hill, and the gas ignites. THEN what? I'd probably hope I was in some easy dirt and just start dumping dirt and sand on top of the bike.

I think I'll give dynojet a call tomorrow and see what they say.

That's true, hence the T-mod which I did, but I ride in the swamp with deep water quite often....sucked water in the airbox a couple time too

Yeah I think one weekend I'm going to do the T-mod AND the smog removal all at once.

I called Dynojet and they said to leave them and ignore the instructions in their guide.

Sounded fishy to me. Now to see if this valve cover gasket can be fixed for free.
