I did the air box and carb mods yesterday and I installed the clip in position no. 2 on the Needle, with the brass collar under that so it rests on the slide. Is that right? Or does it go on top of the clip?
There is a slight hesitation off idle when blipping the throttle but otherwise it seems ok. Im just not sure about that collar on the needle?

 

Hey Joel, I don't have the KLX300 dyno kit, but on my KLR it goes on top of the clip. If your getting hesitation, move the clip down one space.

Yea thats the pic from the an earlier post. Thats a REALY nice pic from you Ryan. Looks like I put that spacer on wrong. I'll be changing that ASAP! Its probably the equivelant of having the clip in the 4th or 5th position. Oh well live and learn. I just bought the needle, clip, spacer and #125 jet seperate, so I didnt have any instructions.

I wonder how important that brass collar is? I am doing the mod now and I don't recall even seeing it. I may have lost it, but I also wonder if it even had one to begin with.

 

You need the collar and it goes on top of the clip. It's what holds the needle in the holder. Just the clip will work "sort of" but you won't get the desired results.

 

Thanks for the info. I wonder if I can get a brass collar that will work from auto zone or Lowe's.
