Deej's ride report

RE: Deej's ride report
Longview to forks is about 4 hours or 200 miles, so I would guess that from Longview to Aberdeen and then fill up and then you're here. Aberdeen is exactly half way here, 101 miles from Aberdeen to Forks. As far as the gates, there are certainly more roads here with than without, but I am working on getting to know the land owners and maybe forming some sort of task force that would allow us to sneak around gates in return for problem reports and other issues we run across. I already know the guy that runs Rayoneer and will be talking to him soon, where I work we have a pretty good working relationship with the DNR-Department of Natural Resources, and will be getting a hold of them as well. Also here is Forest service, and a handful of smaller timber companies. What I expect to run into is that most will probably say we can't give you permission and not everyone else on quads and those in 4X4's into gated areas, but who knows, you gotta start somewhere right? That reminds me I need to get a GPS if I plan on exploring more and more, that way I could not only find my way back, but I could also start mapping the good places as well. Also there are endless roads that don't have gates too, so there is certainly a lot of potential here.

RE: Deej's ride report
Hey Deej. I used to spend a lot of time in Aberdeen as a kid. I grew up in Raymond. Weyco allowed us to build mtn. bike trails on some of their property down here. That was pretty generous of them, but no motorcycles are allowed. I long for the good old days of unlimited riding on logging roads; timber co. property..but sadly those days are gone.[:'(] Riding up to the penninsula would make a nice 2 day ride. I might have too consider that one. There is also some great riding near Mt. Rainier called Elbe Hills. I did a mtn bike race there before and they were some pretty kick butt trails. That would be another good 2 day'er. [sm=smiley20.gif]
