Dead in the water

Here are a couple threads talking about the T-Mod

Vent Mod: There are two pink vent tubes coming off the carb that head down to the swing arm. When the tubes are under water, you have 20-30 seconds before the bike dies. If you put 'Y' or 'T' fittings two to three inches from the carb, and run new tube/tubes UP to the front of the gas tank or to the top of the air box, this will let the carb breath when the lower tube are under water. I cheated a little and just put a 3/16 hole in the top side of the tubes about the same height as the top of the fuel bowl. If the water gets that high, it's getting in the air box and I'm in trouble anyway.

regardless, i would disable the kickstand kill switch...could have gotten me killed....going over some rough pavement on a wide fast multiple lane highway....in the #1 fast lane....engine suddenly just cut out...literally had to roll to a stop in the center divider...highway patrol had to shut down the highway during busy commute hours to let me run across...had to disconnect and reconnect the battery to start the bike again....but, once in gear, engine just shut off...disabled by splicing the wires under the front of the saddle....never had that problem again....

I plugged both of my vent lines and nothing happened. I used to have them t'd together and one line going down but at the moment I just cut them both short and sticking up under the seat.

Down here at 5000ft, I don't seem to have any problems, but when riding in Wyoming at about 9000 ft, just getting the tires wet seems to bog it down. Any small stream crossing makes it gag. Haven't done the t-mod, but can't imagine the end of the hose even getting wet. There's something really sensitive to water.

When i had my bike up between 8,000 and 13,000 ft i had no issues with water.

I've been there and done this. My bike would simply quit if I got anywhere near a puddle of water. I did the T Mod on both vent lines and I've never had this problem again. I cross creeks and rivers with the water as high as the top of my seat with no problems now.

It is only a matter of time before the kickstand switch causes grief if you spend much time at all in any wet stuff. If you don't at least disable it now, familiarize yourself with it and how to bypass it - and file this thread to memory when your bike suddenly dies on you at the most inconvenient of time and place.
