D 603 VS. D 606.......
How much of a difference in dirt riding will I notice switching from the stockers to the 606's?
Not worried about road performance because the road just gets me where I need to be...........
Also hear alot about the Kenda 270's plus Trackmasters butread the606's are better.
What is your opinion?
What do you run???
Stock's are terrible in the mud and loose stuff. (Front 17psi rear 19 psi)

What about the bridgestone ED03's up front and ED04's back?
Not trying to ruin your thread but I hear alot of people running the 606's too but not any other brands, just curious why?

I think my friend has those on his dr400, I'll double check. He likes that set-up.
I just hear so much about the 606's and Kenda's that I take that as good sign...........
Always open for other ideas........

I'm running the Cheng Shin c858 rear on my klx in the stock size. So far it outperforms the stock tire in all conditions, especially sand and its a very quiet tire on the pavement. It's similar to the K270's but has a slightly different pattern and I'm thinking a softer compound because I found it takes more to lock this tire up than the stock tire did on pavement.

There was thread here about maximum tire size for both front and rear, but can't find it.
If anyone knows the thread or what's the max size for our bikes I would appreciate it.

I don't know which thread you are referring to, but I am pretty sure that a 5.10 is about as big as you are going to fit on the back. I am running the 5.10x18 Cheng Shin C858 on the rear right now and I doubt I could get anything any bigger in there. I think this translates to a 130/100x18 in metric nomenclature.
I don't remember what I have up front, but it is the same measurement as the stock tire, but in reality it is actually a little thinner. I was disappointed in that.
Lastly, to add to bryantjt's comments about the C858, I agree that it is better than the stock tire all around. I will say, though, that it still sucks pretty bad in mud. It loads up quickly and does not readily shed the loaded mud.

After some digging.....I found this thread, but still leaves some questions.
Thanks for the replies, and I hope to get that old thread back in motion.

the 606 does not come in stock oem size, it's a larger tire therefore cutting your power since it takes more to spin a larger tire. I will put the same exact size on the rear, albeit a better tire. Bridgestone, Pirelli, and Metzeler make good tires in that size that are dot legal too. I don't see the point in going larger in the rear when the KLX does not have enough power to spin the tiny crappy tire that's on there already. just my .02.

It is a taller tire, but everyone's gearing down anyway, so it's really just "getting some speed back" from the sprocket changes.
I plan on buying D606 as well for both ends. Guess I better get on that.
